LASC funded a small plantain chip production facility in Honduras to create economic opportunity for 8 families.
In Collaboration with CEPUDO of Honduras, Food for the Poor constructed a small facility to house the La Esperanza Plantain Chip Factory of Tela – Atlantida, Honduras in order to create an income generating economic development opportunity for 8 families. The project included the purchase of a new stove, refrigerator, stainless steel working table, packaging sealer, cooking accessories and start up ingredients. Training has been completed and the participants have received the certification of the Health Department. The success of the project has allowed for the additional hiring of a delivery man to take product to market!
