Light a Single Candle Foundation has the privilege of working with many new and many repeat partners in a common mission to serve the poor. Here are some of our featured projects:
Convoy of Hope – This funding provided operational support to Convoy of Hope, specifically as it relates to their programming in Nicaragua.
Semilla Nueva: Foundations for scaling biofortified seed in Guatemala 2021 – This funding provided the opportunity to launch the new seed F5, continue developing new hybrid seeds, to reach 1,800 farmers and 7,200 commercial farmers through seed and to improve the income of 2,000 subsistence farmers.
Semilla Nueva: Scaling biofortified seeds in Guatemala – This funding provided the opportunity to evaluate the strategies for scaling biofortified maize, to reach 44,500 families using biofortified seed, and to make investments for future expansion and ability to provide seed for 200,000 families within the 10-year goal.
Strategies for International Development: Graduating Poor Coffee Farmers from Poverty in Guatemala’s Department of Alta Verapaz – This is the fourth year of support for this program to expand assistance to coffee growers in increasing productivity, increase the price they earn from coffee, increase their income, and improve the conservation practices being adopted.
The Inga Foundation: Land For Life-organic, regenerative agroforestry with the Inga Tree Model – This project is focused on providing food security, increased income and improved nutrition through eco-friendly practices that transform multi-generational subsistence farm holder land into a sustainable livelihood with opportunities for growth in Honduras.
World Renew: Empowerment through Urban Agriculture – This project provided 130 women in Honduras with urban agriculture training in order to establish a family garden to help provide food for their household, as well as learning entrepreneurship and leadership skills for the advancement of women’s equal participation with men as decision makers in shaping the sustainable development of their community.
